Paris tu me manques!!

Being in  Paris is in itself a Fairytale. Long, old, winding roads made of cobblestone and brick houses. Beautiful castles that spread across the land, like markers of a grander era, of kings and queens. Fashion that seeps into your subconscious from a long lineage of designers that have changed the world. And food like no other, food that as many would say has ignited revolutions, over crumbs of bread, or so goes the story goes. HaHa.
But to be inside the castles, is another story. And more so if the fortress in question was made during dueling kingdoms, passed on for generations and finally houses the most impressive art collection in the world. Le Louvre.
This is the underground of it, it has a bit of it's history :)
Paris tu me manques!!!

The great university of Paris

Education is one of life's greatest gifts. Within the halls of knowledge anything is possible, especially if you're in Paris. The Sorbonne was a nice trip, they let me go in the gift shop and I bought some cute gifts. Oh la la la ❤

Say Cheese!

Cheese the quintessential legend of Paris. Perfect in all it's forms. Or it could also be I am a cheese lover. But there was something magical about cheese shops in Paris, this one here is the Versailles market, a few blocks from the legendary castle. C'est parfait!

Castlelandia with friends

It was cold, rainy and the day blew it our face as we bought the $15 euro tickets to see the castle.  The sky was all monotone as we ate cheese, arugula and ham baguettes, with a side of espresso.  Chaumont sur  Loire ... a castle by the river, was it worth it? Of course. Not to mention our stop in the nearby town to eat some delicious cake <3 Thank to my awesome friends in France! :)

Nights of Paris

Walking to my hotel room, in windy and a little chilly night. The hum of the traffic is like background music to the soundtrack of any large city. The sky is midnight blue, the people speak in a myriad of languages in the worlds most visited city. The lights infuse the city of love with that eternal romance that is is donned with. The Seine runs slowly, ever constant, witness to every event from wars, to coronations to dreams of great writers and artists who loved the city. Paris at night, is one of the greatest memories one can sketch into the book of our life ...

Paris awakens ...

Sunrise on the 16th arrondisement ....

A quiet early 6am morning at Metro Republique. Even the doves are sleeping still, restaurants were opening, the chestnut seller was setting up his stand outside the metro and the chill of September was grey and ominous.
It was a perfect first morning to wake up in Paris, camera in hand and a head of full of wonderings of what Paris would be like.

Take a moment in time. Paris tu me manques.

I realize I haven't posted in a little while. Life has been a little hectic. I'd share with you that now after graduation I have so many ideas floating in my mind. One of which always in the back of my mind is to leave it all, grab a plane and live in France. Never look back and see where luck takes us.

So, here I'll share with you one of my favorite songs about 'le vielle Parii'.

Iron Spirit & times of tears

I will miss you Paris
I always have
Even when I hadn't met you
I knew I would miss you
I knew how much I would love you
Because there is a mystisim
And a charm
About you
Because there is a subtle glow about you
That fits with me
There is a timeless fashion
A classic look
I promise to come back
For u have inprinted in me
A desire to see you
Walk each boulevard where so many legends
Have lived and died
And laughed and cried
Where stories are made
Books written
Fortunes accumulated
And debauchered
Land of kngs
And queens
Of balls and castles and wars
That have left legacy for all its children
Paris daughter of France
Of the revolution
Bearer of the Marsailliese
Oh grand city of lights
I love you

The Paris Moment: Une Photo Personelle.

We all have it the Paris Moment. Be it on your first visit or your 40th. There is a moment when the city captivates your heart. A moment when you realize everything that was said about it falls short, that your would move here an instant and you want that moment to last forever.
My Paris moment was walking along Le Jardin de Tuilleries on a bleak september day a year ago, the wind was a bit harsh, the stores were still closed and I had wandered unknowingly into this historic garden that was under renovation, well all of Paris was that late summer.
And then I looked up suddenly and there it was the the magic moment. The classic castle, the backside of the Louvre peaked out, and it was real. It was within my reach, I took my camera to eye level, or I might have kneeled to take the picture. And I captured that moment.

Morality & Books in old Paris

"Morality is simply the attitude we adopt towards people we personality dislike"

" We have, in fact, two kinds of morality side by side; one which we preach but do not practice         and another which we practice but seldom preach"

Better than I expected.

Another Parisian landmark. One in every corner. Breathtaking? Yes. Beautiful and unforgettable? Yes. Crowded? Yes. Worth the wait? Yes. Comparable to the way you always imagined it? No. Even better.

But then again that's no surprise. Everything in Paris is that way. Oh I miss it so. Next month will be almost a year since I visited and I am having deep withdrawals.

Silent Paris

Roam into the parks of this city and there is an uncanny peace not often found in the worlds big cities.
Sit on a bench, take a walk, read a book, and when you've had enough walk a few steps to Champs Elysses :)

A reason to go back

The sculpture at the entrance of another Paris museum that I did not have the time to visit.
But that's okay because it is one more excuse why I must go back to my beloved city, again and again & again :)

"creer c'est se souvenir"~ Victor Hugo

I'm going to step outside the ordinary today and post a picture that I did not take. I felt whimsical (more than usual).

Here is to the love of my life: Paris

WWII Paris

Paris Magnifique

D-Day Tribute

We could not imagine a Paris without freedom, without beauty and well just class.
We could not imagine a Paris without good food, and smiles and joy. But there was a time when France fell to Germany's army and all that we know as france was just gone. Paris was in ruins from the bombing, the german soldiers took over hotels and historical buildings .... Parisians were rationed in their own land and many lives were lost.
Another casualty of the war.

68 years ago on this very day... American troops disembarked off the coast of Normandy to help save france and end the war. The beginning of the end perhaps. But there was a long way to go, not just in ending the war but rebuilding Europe and in a sense it never was the same.

Here is an ordinary picture, of a not so ordinary city, that we all love and we thank those brave American GI's for saving our beautiful Paris :)

16th Arr

C'est comme une page d'un livre

[ it is like a page out of a book]

This was my first view of the grand dame, the beautiful 'Eiffel Tower'
It was so breathtaking like it is for every new Paris visitor that I had to stop and awe about it and take a picture. The park backdrop made it so vintage, such a perfect fall image. The sign on the side marks it as a Parisian daily life and I think it was another perfect moment <3

My skyline picture.  Really with Paris words are sometimes redundant .

The other France

This is not a Paris Picture as you can instantly tell. But nevertheless I decided to share it because it's a France picture, because I'm wearing a very chic outfit (Paris fitting indeed) and because I love it.
I was at the Lourdes Shrine in Lourdes, France. A highly catholic town in the south of france. Tourists outnumber locals, and all you see is catholic souvenir shops left and right.
Though I was raised Catholic, I'm not a fervent believer, but I went on my mothers petition and I found it a great respite from my trip, it was beautiful indeed.

the paradox

This picture seems out of a fairy tale, the castle on the right, marking a skyline out of our childhood dreams. The Seine crossing the bridge, we can almost imagine the canoes bringing princess of a far away land to meet the princesses of France.
And then you turn left and see the cars, moving slowly through the lane. The evening falling upon them, and yet still not enough for the lights to come on.
Paris is always a paradox.

Paintings by the Seine

I had a dream last night. It was beautiful, I was in Paris thought I don't recall any landmarks my instinct knew I was in Paris. The only bad part was that I had somehow forgotten my camera, quite disturbing.
The truth is that  I did not forget my camera when I actually did go, and I could capture moments like this wonderful day when I walked by the Seine, after eating lunch at some sidewalk cafe (well if you call lunch, wine, cheese and soup).
The painting by the Seine, a true landmark of old Paris, come and buy any famous artwork as you look at the most beautiful piece of art, the city itself. <3

The memory shop

The souvenir shop from across  the street ...
So this is not old Paris
But I took a detour.
This is Lourdes, a small highly religious (catholic) province of France

Pas surprising ... when there are rows and rows of souvenir shops, lined with wines, cheeses and meat products made in or around this picturesque town, not to mention clothes and religious items.

Lourdes is highly influenced by it's proximity to Spain, it's Basque heritage and the indirect influence from 'Il Vaticano"

Nevertheless the trip was unforgettable, six hours from Paris and it's a whole new world..

Chic, n'est pas?

My heart will go on

Le Violinist .....

Up the stairs to the Sacre Cour Church, between the awed tourists taking pictures at the base, the fervent devotees going to hear the nuns sing and the simple pedestrians a man plays .. 'my heart will go on.'  Subtle, silent, pending it starts until everyone can hear it, and everyone that goes by must turn around and listen, to beautiful music in old Paris.

Picnic, wine and Marie Antoinette

Un-glamour Paris and what do you get? Picnic, wine and beautiful views at the Versailles gardens. Mmmmhhhh... Yeah you're right it still sounds glamorous but what can I say we're in France. <3

The postcard picture

Everyone has it. The picture that simply immortalizes all that a city stand for. This is it.
Off -  white clouds 'sous le ciel de Paris', golden domes and vintage building. It is incredible like a vignette from past times.
C'est parfait!

The Star of the Show

You can't have enough dark chocolates, enough cafes  by the river, there is no such thing as too many trips to Paris or too many pictures of the Eiffel Tower.
So here she is, the great dame, the iron lady in lights against the blue sky.

Beautiful Bridges

Bridges that take your breath away.  All across Paris, near every major landmark, lay bridges. Ancient bridges, gorgeous, works of art that hold the very heart of the city together.
These bridges across the Seine will crawl lazily into every memory of Paris you have.

Chocolate and Gossip

The the world is gloomy and sad, when all my troubles seem overt and without resolution, only one thing to do. Have breakfast at "L'angelina Maison de The". Very early before anyone gets there, when only a quiet lady sits in corner and a very 'francais' couple talks about her on the other end.
Charlie Chaplin once sang about, smiling when your heart was breaking and holding back the tears. But in my world everything is okay if I'm in Paris.

art and palaces

Fountains dot the Parisian landscape. This gorgeous one is in front of the Grand Palais down Champs Elysees. I had to stop, deviate from my way to the Arc and take a picture of this lovely scene. I can close my eyes and see it.

Paris Je t'aime!

This is probably my favorite picture from my Paris trip.
It was my semi last day there, and I took a river cruise. The tower looked majestic and beautiful. It took my breath away. I look at it everyday on my computer screen. And I was motivated to begin a blog of just pictures nothing else. Pictures of Paris. A little of France too :)

I began my love affair with the city of lights many years ago. Why? Who knows. My theory is I was meant to be born there, but God decided to let me take a detour of the also beautiful Aztec Land (Mexico). And then around high school french class I found my true home.

Although I have a person blog where I've posted some Paris picture this blog will only be dedicated to pictures.  Come follow me!
